The history of Mizarstvo Bolčič

1934 – The current owner`s grandfather Anton Bolčič starts working as a travelling joiner.
1940 – He opens his first workshop and starts producing bedrooms made of walnut root for numerous Istrian families.
1963 – His son Nikolaj joins him and after a few years they introduce an innovation on the territory of the former Yugoslav Republic – they were the first to produce ultrapas kitchens.
1972 – Purchase of a carving machine and the beginnings of mass production of carved mirror frames.
1981 – After his father died Mitja, the representative of the third generation, takes over the business.
1991 – He starts manufacturing mass furniture for the pretentious German market.
2002 – The beginnings of cooperation with the designers Teo and Edo Vidovič and start of the designer award receiving period; award for the computer desk Zig-Zag; furniture Onda etc.
2008 – At the Londoner exhibition 100% Design Matthew Hilton, the leading British furniture designer notices and praises Bolčič`s products
Two awards in 2011: the Top Ten and Top of the Top award at the fair Ambient 2011 for the table Privid and the Istra composition designed by Toni Kancilja.
